What are the Russian schools in Canada. Do they need immigrants?
Hello, dear friends! Today I want to talk about Russian schools. I was asked to talk in more detail about what Russian schools are like, how much, indeed, in Russian schools it is possible to preserve the children's native language and interest in their native culture.
I suggest starting with the characteristics of what the Russian school is like. As a rule, the Russian school is private projects that are not integrated into the local, local education system. As a rule, these are educational institutions in which children learn only on weekends. Sometimes there are exceptions that the school organizes some mugs for a week, but due to the fact that children have a very high workload, visit these groups very little, in fact, children. In general, speaking of the number, we can say that, usually, Russian schools, they are very numerous, that is, up to a hundred people somewhere, but there are exceptions. For example, in Montreal there is such a school "Literacy, and the total number of students reaches five hundred with something a person, as far as I know.
By program. What do they give in these schools? As a rule, there are no senior classes, there are junior classes and, at best, middle classes. And children, basically, there are engaged in Russian. To a lesser extent - literature, to a lesser extent - history. And in fairly large amounts, parents want to give children natural sciences, math, physics and chemistry with biology.
Further. The program that is given to children, of course, it does not meet the standards that exist in the countries of origin. Because, you have to understand that since the Russian school is a weekend school, in Russian schools only 36-38 weeks, during this time it is impossible to give the full amount of the entire program that takes place in schools in Ukraine, in Russia , in Moldova throughout the school year. Therefore, these are some excerpts. Programs, as a rule, are authored, and are compiled, directly, by the administration or by the teachers of each of the schools.
Children are recruited starting from the age of 4-5. This is very important and necessary for their socialization, so that they begin from an early age to speak Russian with their peers, and not just with their parents. The school, as a rule, tells a lot about the creative aspects, that is, a large number of different folklore festivals, national and ethnic holidays, which cover certain aspects of life, of the Russian, Ukrainian peoples, let's say.
Usually, recording takes place twice a year. But, of course, most are recorded, starting in the summer. Those schools, in which the educational issue is placed on a large scale and seriously, these schools are guided by the educational standards of the Russian Federation. There are ethnic schools Moldovan and Ukrainian. There, naturally, the emphasis is on the history of Moldova and Ukraine. If we are talking about Russian schools, then, naturally, the emphasis is more on those standards and those points that relate to Russia and Russian history.
By the way, an important point. Since a large number of children from different republics of the former USSR are studying at school, the school administration naturally tries to give the most balanced, neutral version of history, that is, without excesses. Nobody praises one side, does not scold the other side. That is, they try to give the most weighted, neutral material. Attentively, usually, listen to the wishes of the parents, and from the wishes of the parents are repelled when compiling an individual schedule of students. That is, students are not required to walk absolutely on all subjects offered by the school, but only those that their parents believe are most important for children are chosen.
Further. The cost of studying, usually for a parent's school, is paid depending on the school, as I know, from somewhere $ 70-80 to $ 130 per month for one child. The price includes such issues as the number of classes that the child attends, and additional mugs that the child takes, or does not take for his studies. Again, depending on which city you live in, the competitive environment may be more or less, so you can always choose the school that best meets your needs, as well as the wishes and expectations of your child.
And, finally, I want to say that Russian schools are really, probably, the only significant tool for your child to retain his native language. Because, whether you want it or not, but for one day a week, the child speaks the whole day only in Russian. The child listens to the competent speech of the teachers who tell the story, and do not concern everyday matters at all. That is, the child receives vocabulary, which refers to the literary Russian language and to the scientific Russian language. It is very important.
In one of the previous videos I told you that, unfortunately, many parents, because of the difficulties that they have, connected with adaptation, they most of the time devote themselves, their problems. And the children talk only exclusively on everyday topics. Russian schools here allow you to significantly expand your vocabulary. Moreover, you must understand that it is also very difficult for children in a new country, in a new place. And when they study in the classroom with their peers who have exactly the same story, exactly the same fate as they do, children find reliable support and support in the number, among their peers. And this is also very important. That is, many children continue to be friends, maintain relationships with their classmates and out of school. For the moral climate in the family, for the moral and psychological state of your children, this is also a very, very important factor.
Therefore, I personally strongly recommend that all parents, when they arrive here in Canada, carefully study the issue related to the existence of ethnic schools, your ethnic schools in the particular city where you live. And do not delay the moment, despite the fact that it can be hard financially, or it can be hard for the load of the child, after all the child is sent to the ethnic school, to the Russian school, if you are interested in Russian.
At this end. I hope that I answered the question. If you have any other questions clarifying, do not hesitate, I will be happy to answer them. Do not forget to subscribe to my channel. Good luck! Bye!
