Club of Odessa gentlemen.
"Club of Odessa Gentlemen" - a humorous variety theater. It was created in Odessa in the summer of 1987. At the time of creation, it included Yanislav Levinson, Oleg Filimonov, Yuri Kordonsky, Yevgeny Kaminsky, Anatoly Kontush, Yury Sychyov, Vladislav Tsaryov, Yevgeny Khayit, Igor Minyailo and art director Valery Hayit. In 1988, Eduard Tsiryulnikov joined the "gentlemen". Until 1991 the collective worked mainly on the stage. Since 1991, regular television activity began: on the basis of the "Club", a TV show called "The Gentleman Show" was created, which was one of the most popular humorous television programs of the 1990s in Russian.
The history of the "Club of Odessa Gentlemen" originates in 1986, when the All-Union Central TV decided to revive the KVN. To participate in the first season, a team from Odessa was required - the universally recognized capital of humor of the USSR. And besides, it was the team of the Odessa Institute of National Economy who was the last champion of KVN before the closing of the game in the distant 1972 year. So the team of the Odessa State University was chosen. And. & # 160; Mechnikov. In the image of "Odessa gentlemen" this team triumphantly became the champion in the first season of the revived KVN (1986-1987).
In the autumn of the same year, the main actor stars of this team, Janislav Levinson, Oleg Filimonov, Yuri Kordonsky and part of the author's group - Yevgeny Kaminsky, Anatoly Kontush, Igor Minyailo, Yuri Sychev, Yevgeny Khayit and Vladislav Tsaryov, at the suggestion of artistic director Valery Hait , "Went" to the professional stage and created at the Odessa Philharmonic variety theater called "Club of Odessa Gentlemen." Naturally, Valery Hayit became the artistic director of the theater. The first variety program of "Club" was called "KVN reveals secrets" and basically consisted of KVNov numbers of the 1986-87 season, which were cut by the capital censorship. With this program the theater traveled all, then still a large, country from Tallinn to Tashkent and from Gomel to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. In 1988, Yuri Kordonsky left the band, who entered the theater course of Lev Dodin at LGITMIK. In late 1988, a new actor Eduard Ciryulnikov came to the "Club". In the same year, "Club" released a new program "The meeting continues," written exclusively by its own authoring group. The program turned out to be no less, and maybe even more successful than the first, which was confirmed by the tour in all the republics of the former Soviet Union, which took place with the same noticeable notice.
In those years, the "gentlemen" were so popular that it was easy to collect thousands of Sports Palaces and the main concert halls of Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Tbilisi, Yerevan, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Vilnius, Alma-Ata and many other cities of the USSR - including Moscow sports complex "Olympic", Leningrad concert hall "Oktyabrsky" and Kiev Palace "Ukraine". And this despite the fact that the "Club" only occasionally appeared on the then Central TV - in the New Year's "Blue Lights", with a greeting to women in the festive eight-March concert, at the jubilee celebrations of the memory of Leonid Utyosov.
In 1990, the authors of the Club wrote a new variety program, and the screenwriters and producers Eduard Kamenetsky and Alexander Tarasul came to the "gentlemen" with the proposal to create a television program. The first release of this program, dubbed the "Gentleman Show", aired on Russian television in 1991 and aroused great interest. On the wave of success, the "Club of Odessa Gentlemen" expanded its touring activities beyond the borders of the USSR, going on a tour of the United States.
But in the same year he moved to Israel Janislav Levinson. At the end of 1992, Yevgeny Kaminsky is leaving for the US, Anatoly Kontush is leaving for Hamburg University just a few days later, and in 1993, Yuri Sychev is in the United States.
Simultaneously with the economic crisis in the post-Soviet space, the variety activity of the Club is diminishing, and its main activity is gradually becoming television. At the same time, the successful touring activity of the "gentlemen" continues, albeit at a lower frequency, but with greater scope. Now the members of the "Club" please viewers not so much in the former Soviet republics, as beyond their borders - in Israel, Australia, Germany and again in the US. However, in the late 1990s, the "gentlemen" almost completely switched to television projects. Therefore, the further history of the "Club of Odessa Gentlemen" is already a story not so much of the "Club" proper as of the "Gentleman show" program.

Ten members of the Odessa Gentlemen's Club, 1987-88, live and work in five different countries of the world today - Ukraine (4), USA (2), Canada (1), Israel (1), France (1) and Of Russia (1). The sketch "Forever in the People's Memory", telling about the farewell of the Soviet people with the cold-smoked balyk in the form of a parody of the funeral of the country's top leadership, the "gentlemen" played with constant success since 1987, but he never appeared on television. Obviously, this form was too bold even in the then situation of general democratization and perestroika. It is curious that a very similar story called "Funeral of Food" was still shown on the first CT program in 1991 in the humorous program "Oba-na!". It should be noted that in those years the "gentlemen" were not familiar with the authors of this program.
"Club of Odessa Gentlemen" today.
October 13, 2012 "Club of Odessa Gentlemen" celebrated his 25th anniversary concert in the crowded hall of the Odessa Theater of Musical Comedy. Mikhail Vodyaniy. To the anniversary date, the main authors of the first programs of the Club Evgeny Kaminsky, Anatoly Kontush, Yuri Sychev and Vladislav Tsarev, who live in four different countries today, wrote an entirely new program on Skype, "The meeting continues 25 years later." The premiere of this program was played on the day of the anniversary by the stars of the "Club" Oleg Filimonov and Janislav Levinzon with the participation of the four "gentlemen" mentioned above, as well as Yevgeny Khait and Igor Minyailo.
